Winter is here!
Just went for a run after work and it was cold! Had to put on my long tights & start in long sleeves, and by the end I really wanted a vest & a warm hat - neither of which I have. Time to update my running wardrobe! I love a good excuse to buy running gear :)

Just realised that I forgot a towel & a sports bra...
Thinking maybe I should do a workout video at home instead, possibly after going for a run. That’s if its not dark & raining by the time I get home. I hate running in the dark - it scares me even though I would have my dog with me. He is the most useless guard dog - he greets people at the door & wants to play with them.

Trying to talk myself into going for a run at...
I am meant to be taking the dog for a run at lunchtime but I am not that keen to actually do it. I’m tired (I didn’t sleep well last night) & I can’t be bothered having to rush around having a shower & making lunch before I come back to work. Plus I would have to work late & make up the extra time it takes to do all that. I could take him to the park instead &...

Munching on zucchini chips
Its the first time I’ve made them & the are tasty! Next on the cooking list is roast pumpkin soup, if only I could be bothered cutting up the pumpkin….

I feel a big win coming on
I just got back from the supermarket where I went after a big workout. Last year I probably would have come home with bags of chips, lollies, chocolate & who knows what other rubbish. Today I found myself wandering the aisles not being able to find things I wanted to eat because it was all crap & I just didn’t want to eat it. Luckily I already had a whole lot of fruit &...

just realised
I used to drink a lot of soda (particularly diet coke/coke zero), I’m guessing around 4 litres a week at times. I know it’s bad for me but I haven’t really made any particular effort to cut back. This week I haven’t even had 1.5 litres & what I did have was lemonade. Maybe next week I will have even less & stop drinking this rubbish all together. Also thought you...

Damn it! I need new jeans again :(
Just discovered that I have worn a hole in these ones. Plus they are a little too big now as well but I really wasn’t ready to buy new ones. I swear this is my biggest reason for wanting a ‘thigh gap’. I hate that I want one but my reasons are purely practical. I would love to not have my pants wear out like this & not have shorts ride up when I run.  Off to the gym at...

You know what's awesome for avoiding night time...
Painting your nails. And not just plain old one colour, boring nail polish. Multi coloured nail art. Keeps me busy for hours!

Feeling confident
I have finally managed to schedule 3 decent (over an hour each) workouts into my week that I know I can stick to. Partially thanks to my boss letting me change my work hours to something that suits me better. I think I finally have a routine of 6 training sessions a week that I can actually stick to. And I have been cooking proper dinners the last 2 weeks. Yay for being back on the right track...

Just had an awesome run!
I’m so thrilled at the moment, just covered over 12km and still felt good at the end. Plus the added bonus is that my boss let me leave work early so I could run before it got dark. I just need to make up the time over the rest of the week. Yay for having a boss who believes in work/life balance and yay for finding a day to do my long run :)

Don't you just hate it when....
you think you have had such a great week, eaten healthily & within your calorie limits, done plenty of exercise….. and then you weigh in & you’ve actually gained weight and you’re pretty sure it’s not muscle because you only did 1 strength session last week oh well, onwards & upwards - more strength training scheduled for this week & a long run tomorrow....

Oh the decisions!
You know you’ve had a big day if you get to 9:30 at night and your net calories are only around 700 & you haven’t skipped any meals. I’m trying to decide whether to eat more before I go to bed…oh the dilemma’s you face when you burn over 1000 calories with exercise in one day!

Success!
Just had my first taste of the soup I made last night (carrot, sweet potato & ginger) & it is delicious! I added some low fat sour cream & a little blue cheese on top which made it even better. I am super happy to have a new recipe for the winter & the added bonus is that it is incredibly cheap to make since its basically stock, carrots & an onion. And I just got back from...

Finally!
I have found a breakfast that fills me up until my morning break. Porridge/Oatmeal with a banana, a few pumpkin seeds, a little milk & a teaspoon of honey. Pretty well balanced & very filling without being too high in calories. Perfect. I am so happy now :)

Time for tea!
It’s nearly 3pm and I think it might be time to have a lovely cup of green tea with blackcurrant - it is delicious. Oh & on a tea related note I can’t wait for my visit to Sydney in June so I can go to T2 and stock up. They used to have a shop here but it closed & the stuff from the supermarket just isn’t the same :(

New lunch recipe
Went to a second hand book fair on the weekend & picked up a whole stack of health & fitness magazines (5 for $1 - such a bargain!!) and I’m now trying one of the recipes - Pear & Blue Cheese salad. I’ve added some homemade tortilla chips as a side dish & it is all going down great except I might swap for a more mild blue cheese next time. Now I just have to wait &...

to put a positive spin on the start of winter
I am going to try making a new kind of soup, casserole or slow cooker kind of meal each week. I am just cooking for myself so these kinds of meals are perfect to make in bulk & eat all week. For the first week of this challenge (which will be after my easter long weekend) will be this corn chowder from Jamie Oliver. If anyone has any recipes for filling (& preferably vegetarian) meals...

I have a plan
I have decided to trial having a big lunch & a small dinner (soup, cereal or something like that) because I do most of my training straight after work & by the time I get to eat dinner it’s usually after 7pm & I’m really hungry but don’t want to fill up too much before bed time. By eating ‘dinner’ earlier I can avoid being hungry during my workout &...
